Jerry Workman

Deputy Commissioner, Alabama Department of Insurance

Prior to joining the Alabama Department of insurance, Workman accrued three decades of experience in the insurance industry, most recently serving for 11 years as Director of Government Affairs at Farmers Insurance.

With extensive experience orchestrating legislative projects and managing teams across 21 east coast and southern states, Workman’s resume includes executive management positions in claims as well as governmental affairs.

Workman has served in leadership positions on numerous insurance industry groups including serving as Chairman of the Board of the Alabama Insurance Underwriting Association. Active participation in other organizations includes the Alabama Center for Insurance Information and Research, the Alabama Insurance Council, the Georgia Insurance Information Service and the Mississippi Insurance Council. He also was a board member of the South Carolina Insurance Underwriting Association. Additionally, Workman is a former member of the Alabaster, Alabama, City Council.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Workman earned a Master of Business Administration from Kent State University and a bachelor’s degree in history from Hiram College. He currently lives in Pelham, Alabama, and is married to the former Susan Downs. They have two children, Sarah and Kate.
