Keith Kropf

Former Director of Engineering, Florida Keys Electric Cooperative

Keith Kropf, P.E. served as the Director of Engineering for the Florida Keys Electric Cooperative until 2017, having retired after leading the effort to restore the area’s electrical system damaged by the Category 4 Hurricane Irma.

Prior to joining Florida Keys Electric Cooperative, Mr. Kropf owned and operated Scott Electronic Systems Inc. for more than 5 years, designing and building innovative electronics for various industries including NASA and the U.S. military. He also worked for more than 11 years for the Empire District Electric Company.

Mr. Kropf earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri in 1978. He now resides on the Big Island in Hawai’i, where he is designing the next generation steel drum and a new musical instrument that unites the sounds of the Caribbean and Hawaii.
